Traditional Singaporean breakfast is Kaya toast with soft-boiled eggs. Is one of the signature breakfast dishes in Singapore culture.
Kaya is a kind of coconut jam made from eggs, sugar, coconut milk and is flavoured with pandan leaves.
Traditional coffee shop, the soft white bread is toasted on a charcoal grill and is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside spread with kaya and a piece of salted butter in the middle of the bread.
For soft-boiled eggs sprinkle a little bit of the soy sauce and pepper in the runny egg.
Then you mix the eggs up and dip toast into it and enjoy with a cup of kopi (Singaporean coffee).
A good soft-boiled egg really comes down to timing.
This is what older days most of the local had for breakfast in the coffee shop and even nowadays there a famous Ya Kun Kaya Toast cafe and can be found anywhere in Singapore.
